How to pin a post on Facebook Account

With Facebook pages, one marketing tactic you can do is to “Pin” a post to the top of your Facebook Page timeline.

When you Pin something it will stay there until you unpin it.

Why would you ‘pin’ a Facebook Update?

Primarily to keep it at the top and in the minds of visitors to your Page. So people can see that information.

What would you pin?

How about an event, special class, or sale on a product? These are all types of content you want special attention to.

Look at what content you have on your page. You can pin any post you feel needs the extra attention.

It would be great if you have something special to Pin, but for now at least try to pin any post you have just to get comfortable with this.  Also, note that you have to be an Admin  or Editor on the Page to do this.

Here are the steps to Pin a Post on your Facebook Page:

1. Find the update you want to Pin.

2. Click the … edit button on the right of that update. (the 3 dots)

3. Click “Pin to Top of Page”.

4. This will place the update at the top of your content and with a little notification on the left  – this tells you it has been pinned.

You can be very strategic with what you pin, putting items there for a few days and then changing them up. Pin your posts on Facebook based on the importance of the content you want pinned – meaning… Pin the Really Good Stuff or Important Content!

PINNING Posts on Facebook Groups

Pinning a post on a group is possible, but it is referred to as making an “Announcement”. The principle is the same. The options are different.

Announcements on a Facebook Group have their own area to check them.  These types of ‘pinned posts’ called group announcements will appear at the top of your group in an announcements section. (See the pic below to get an idea of where these show).

On a Facebook Group you manage you can have up to 50 announcements at a time. But don’t do that. There needs to be a reason why you mark items as an announcement.

I like to post my monthly group call schedule or other important things like this as announcements in my Marketing Mastery Inner Circle group. This ensures the members know how to easily find the call schedule!

Try this out and let me know how it goes… If you have a question on how to do this – post a comment on my Facebook Page or DM me on Instagram.
