How do I recover my Office 2013 Home and Business product key?

I need to reinstall my Office 2013 Professional suite on my laptop; and, shame on me, I have lost/misplaced my product key.

Can some kind soul help me either find the key on my PC or suggest how I can do the reinstall?

    Thank you,

As usual, I am confused; and I wanted to try to clarify something before I delete my existing Office 2013 and then find I am up s@#$’s creek:

Belarc  lists a string of numbers and letters and then says: (Key: ends with . . .and gives 5 letters.

Produkey lists what looks like a full Product Key, but none of it looks like what Belarc puts out

      ???

I use a Technician’s version of SIW [paid for] and it shows a full Product Key for my Office 2013.  I just installed Belarc’s Advisor [run as Administrator] and it shows a Product ID but as mentioned only the last 5-character group of the Product Key.

Forgot to add this, footnotes about Office:

      f. The full product key is not stored on this computer. However, the characters shown uniquely identify your product key.
      g. You can have Windows save the full product key using the procedure at http://www.belarc.com/msproductkeys.html

Before you wonder "Am I doing things right," ask "Am I doing the right things?"

That’s also on the g. footnote that Belarc provides.

I opened a Word document, went to Account, and then “About Microsoft Word.” It show a Product ID there.  Is that the same as a “Product Key”?

Unfortunately a Product *ID* is akin to a catalogue no./part no. whilst a Product *Key* is the code used to activate the MS product.

I suspect *key* was chosen for the (supposed/assumed) automatic imagery of ‘unlocking’ a product… but I’ve seen so many similar posts that it’s obvious that it’s NOT actually that obvious at all. 🙂

Perhaps it would be simpler if MS changed the nomenclature from ‘Product Key’ to ‘Activation Key’ or ‘Activation Unlock Code’?

Yeah, for years we’ve had Microsoft’s Product Key which when used during install of a program/OS would then create/generate the Product ID.  The ID was usually what Microsoft used in their support functions.

I installed Microsoft Office Home & Business 2013 in 2015 on a laptop I gave my son.
I had used my Microsoft account to purchase it through the store.
    — In 2017 he had to re-install it and the following recommendation worked for him.

If you have a Microsoft account, try this https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/.
    — Even if you hadn’t used a Microsoft account and/or didn’t purchase it through the store, try anyway.
Unfortunately I don’t recall the steps you need to follow through but If you can get through the process chances are Microsoft’s assigned product key will be different than your purchased product key. Hopefully it will get you to the point where you can re-install it on your computer.
    — If unsuccessful, call Microsoft 800-642-7676 or 888-571-2048.
    — Explain your situation: let them know what ProduKey reports: maybe even the last 5 characters in Belarc if they are different than ProduKey.

If unsuccessful via Microsoft try Office 2013 Direct Download Links

I took a different path to resolve this issue.  I started the post because I was having a strange problem with Word and also a different one with Excel.

I reasoned that Office 2013 had been installed with a valid key, so this is what I did:

I uninstalled Word, rebooted and re-installed Word.

Then I uninstalled Excel, rebooted and re-installed Excel.

    All is well now.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions along the way to resolving my problem.
