Who won tonights monday night football game

Monday Night Football is shaping up to be a thrilling confrontation between the top two teams in the AFC East division as the New England Patriots head to Highmark Stadium to challenge the Buffalo Bills.

The game between the 8-4 Patriots and the 7-4 Bills will give an insight as to who will eventually prevail in the division, although they will face each other again in Week 16.

Other NFL stories:

The Patriots: On a winning run

The Patriots have a recent track record of being at the helm of AFC East, winning all but three titles from 2001 through last year. But the Bills are the reigning division champions, and will have the Bills Mafia passionately cheering them on at home.

New England is coming from a six-game winning streak, and rookie quarterback Mac Jones has been delivering the goods for the team.

The Patriots’ offense is ranked seventh in the league, delivering 28 points each game. They also have a rock-solid defense, only allowing a league-low 15.8 points per game.

The high-scoring Bills

Bills quarterback Josh Allen is more experienced than Jones and leads the team’s strong passing game. However, the 25-year-old has had several interceptions in three of his last four games, and Buffalo lost two of those contests.

The team’s offense has been formidable, churning out 29.6 points per game. The Bills, like the Patriots, also boast great defense, allowing only 1,964 yards through the air in its games.

The high-level defense of both teams could spell low scores in a tightly-contested matchup.

“Monday Night Football” ends Week 16 tonight with the last of divisional matchups.

In what will be the penultimate “MNF” of the regular season, the Miami Dolphins travel to New Orleans to face the Saints. Both teams (7-7) are in the thick of the AFC and NFC playoff races, and have shown rising defenses that will make for a good game Monday.

New Orleans is coming off a 9-0 upset win over the Buccaneers in Week 15. With a defense that has shut Tom Brady out for the first time since 2006, and two consecutive wins that broke their five-game losing skid, the Saints are riding high.

But while winning Tampa Bay was a surprise, tonight’s matchup against the blazing Miami Dolphins is expected to tire New Orleans. The Dolphins’ stifling defense has allowed Miami to go from 1-7 to 7-7, allowing opponents no more than 20 points. The Saints will probably want to rely on their defense as their starting quarterback Taysom Hill has yet to find accuracy this season.

Tua Tagovailoa vs New Orleans

On the flip side, the Dolphins’ quarterback has helped Miami to their six past straight wins. Tua Tagovailoa has completed 75.8 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns, 943 yards and three interceptions in his last four starts.

More on NFL:

The Dolphins will rely on Tagovailoa and their defense, lifting the burden off their offensive line that’s still a work of progress.

Week 17 features no Thursday Night Football game tonight. Last week, not only did we have Thursday Night Football, but we also had two games played on Saturday and another Monday night. Last week’s matchup between the 49ers and Titans was actually the last Thursday Night Football game of the 2021 NFL season.

Last week’s TNF recap

In the last Thursday Night Football game of the season, the Titans took one step closer to clinching the AFC South. Their 20-17 win over the 49ers kept some breathing room between them and the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL standings.

It also kept Tennessee within striking distance of the AFC’s No. 1 seed, but they would need a loss from Kansas City.

Meanwhile, San Francisco remains in the NFC Wild Card group for now but has quite a few teams on its heels. The 49ers have games left against the Texans and Rams. They will need to keep their foot on the pedal.

With plenty of seeding left to be set in the 2021 NFL playoff race and no Thursday Night Football game on tonight, tune into Pro Football Network for the latest news and information around the league.
