When you hide the post, it will no longer appear on your timeline, this means anyone who goes to your Facebook profile will no longer see the post. However, the post can still appear in the general newsfeed of people who are friends with you and whoever posted the status. You will also still be able to see the post in your Activity Log.

To hide a post from your timeline:

Click/tap the small drop down arrow in the top right of the Facebook Post.
A drop down menu will appear giving you the following options: Save Post, Change Date, Turn off notifications for this post, Hide from Timeline, and Delete.
Select the ‘Hide from Timeline’ option.

Boom! Problem solved, the post is no longer on your timeline.

Accessing the Hide Button

On your Timeline or Facebook Page, the "Hide from Timeline" or "Hide from Page" option appears when you click the "Edit or Remove" button with the pencil icon in a story.

Hover your mouse over the "News Feed" button in the sidebar menu, and then click the "Edit Settings" button with the pencil icon. In the "Unhide posts from" section, click the "X" button next to the app, friend or page that you want to unhide to remove them from the list, and then click "Save".
