Signed as a solo artist to a one-album deal with XL Recordings, Tyler made his proper solo debut with Goblin. Upon its May 2011 arrival, the album became the first Odd Future-related product to be released through the traditional music-industry channels, and debuted at number five on the Billboard 200. Meanwhile, Tyler continued to produce for OF and its affiliates, most notably on The OF Tape, Vol. 2 and a later 2012 release, Frank Ocean's Channel Orange, which won a Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album. Tyler's second LP, Wolf, followed on the Odd Future label in April 2013. It entered the Billboard 200 at number three with an expansive list of guests -- including Erykah Badu, Pharrell, Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier, and Quadron's Coco O -- reflective of Tyler's aesthetic.

Tyler's third proper album, Cherry Bomb, another Odd Future label offering, leaked to online streaming services before its official April 2015 release date. It nonetheless became the artist's third consecutive Top Ten entry, enhanced with uncredited guest appearances from Kanye West and Lil Wayne. Tyler's number of productions and guest appearances subsequently continued to increase through collaborations with Ocean, fellow OF associates the Internet and Domo Genesis, and A$AP Mob. Flower Boy, his acclaimed fourth solo album, was issued through Columbia in July 2017. The LP landed at number two on the Billboard 200 and was later nominated for Best Rap Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.

Tyler, the Creator, whose real name is Tyler Okonma, was born on March 6, 1991 and is currently 31 years old. The rapper and record producer was born in Hawthorne, CA. An early contributor to the music collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, better known as Odd Future, Tyler released his first album as a solo artist in 2009. His music truly spans across many genres, including horrorcore, alternative hip hop, R&B, jazz rap, and neo soul. 

Tyler’s early releases, Bastard in 2009 and Goblin in 2011 are gritty and hardcore. He later turned to a more alternative rap style, releasing Wolf in 2013, and then Cherry Bomb, an album closely influenced by jazz. Wolf led to his first headlining tour throughout the United States.

Heavily influenced by Pharrell Williams, Tyler, the Creator is also a prominent producer, largely self-producing his own tracks and those for Odd Future. Other major influences in his work include Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, and Kanye West, who he has also collaborated with. 

Tyler, the Creator, has won two Grammy awards, both for Best Rap Album. In 2020, Tyler’s album, IGOR, won the award, and in 2022, Call Me If You Get Lost followed suit. Tyler, the Creator was also nominated for an additional Grammy with frequent collaborator Frank Ocean. He has also won a BRIT Award, three BET Hip Hop awards, and an MTV Video Music Award.

He began his career by uploading songs on ‘Tumblr’ that quickly went viral and grabbed mass attention. Tyler self-produced his first mixtape ‘Bastard’ and soon followed it up with his debut album ‘Goblin’. Though he had a distressing childhood, he managed to find solace in composing original music from a young age. Most of his songs continue to reflect verses of his adverse past. He has performed in top television shows such as ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’, ‘The Mindy Project’ and ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’. He also hosts the annual ‘Camp Flog Gnaw’ carnival at the Exposition Park in Los Angeles; the event attracts music lovers from all over the globe. He has had the opportunity of working with mega recording brands such as ‘XL Recordings’, ‘Sony Music Entertainment’ and ‘RED Distribution’. He recently joined the garment industry by founding his own clothing company called ‘Golf Wang’. Tyler has won several accolades for his distinctive contribution as an artist and performer.
