Who is morgan wallen married to

Morgan Wallen is a dad now, and it's fair to ask who his baby's mother is, given how little he's shared. The country singer has kept details of his relationships private, but is now co-parenting with the woman who gave him a son.

Her name is Katie Smith and she and the "Chasin' You" singer were once engaged. Smith has shared some details — though unconfirmed by Wallen — via her Instagram page, revealing that she became pregnant last fall in Canada.

Indigo "Indie" Wilder was born on July 10. Wallen shared the news on July 13, and he's been spending a lot of time with his little guy since.

Here's what we know about Smith: Per her Facebook page, she's from Key West, Fla., but now lives in Nashville, which should make co-parenting with the country singer a little easier. It's not clear what she does for a living, but a future in blogging and as a social media influencer seem likely. She already blogged about her life experiences and skin care routine at THOT Thoughts (a little tea gets spilled in a post titled "Never Have I"), and just days after her baby boy was born, she was on her Instagram Stories talking about products she likes.

Still, it's clear she doesn't have it all figured out in the big picture. "My life is a disaster and I am literally a walking wreck," she shares.

On Instagram, Smith's follower count has tripled in the five days since Indie Wilder's birth (48K as of July 15), but we found her on TikTok, too, where she's less popular. As of now there's just one video, but it shows her sense of humor at a time many pregnant woman are simply suffering.

Wallen moved to Nashville from east Tennessee after competing on The Voice in 2014. His first single was "The Way I Talk" in 2016, and he had met and started hanging out with Smith by 2017, when they coupled up on the 2017 CMT Awards red carpet. She describes being in an on-and-off relationship at her blog, THOT Thoughts.

For his part, the 27-year-old Wallen hasn't shared any details about his romance. Per his Instagram post, he's solely focused on his new role as a father.

"Little Wilder," he begins, "I’m a changed man. Since you came into the world Friday, I see mine differently now. It’s not just me anymore, and I’m glad it’s not. This year has been the hardest of my life in so many ways, but that’s not what I will remember it by. You are. You are a gift and this tough year just made sense."

Here's one final note: It was rumored that the song "Chasin' You" could be about Smith, but Wallen tells the Boot that's not the case. He wrote the song soon after moving to Nashville in late 2015.

"It's just a song that wrote, just what I was going through really," he said.

Morgan Wallen and girlfriend Paige Lorenze have made their romance Instagram official.

After the country singer's show in New York City on Wednesday, Lorenze, 24, celebrated her man with an Instagram Story that featured the pair sharing a hug backstage.

"i love you! and am so proud of you. @morganwallen," the influencer wrote atop the photo.

Wallen, 28, kicked off his Dangerous Tour at Madison Square Garden this week with Lorenze and his sister Ashlyne there for support. Lorenze also shared video of Ashlyne singing along in the crowd.

She later posted a clip of Wallen singing a cover of Jason Isbell's "Cover Me Up," a track included on his LP Dangerous: The Double Album.

The Instagram reveal comes 18 months after the "Whiskey Glasses" singer welcomed son Indigo Wilder with ex-girlfriend KT Smith in July 2020.

Lorenze, meanwhile, previously dated actor Armie Hammer, and came forward with allegations of behavior that made her feel "unsafe" last March.

She told Vanity Fair that she started seeing Hammer in September 2020, but broke things off after he "started making rules for me of things I could and couldn't do."

Lorenze said she ended the relationship over text "because you never know what you're going to get with him — he's kind of a scary person." His attorneys later said that all interactions between Hammer and "his former partners were consensual."

Wallen is currently in the midst of a nearly 50-date arena tour, which marks his return to the spotlight after he was embroiled in controversy last year.

After he was caught on video using a racial slur in February 2021, the singer had his music pulled from radio waves and his record label contract suspended. He was also deemed ineligible at both the ACM and CMT Awards, though he was nominated for four 2022 ACM Awards this week.

Wallen apologized for his use of the word shortly after, writing he was "embarrassed and sorry" to have used "an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back."

He later addressed his use of the racial slur in a conversation with Good Morning America's Michael Strahan, and said that he checked into a rehabilitation center after the incident.

As Morgan Wallen's popularity has exploded in the past year, he's attracted a lot of labels — "outlaw," "sex symbol," "superstar," — that have sometimes complicated his life. But there's one label, he says, that "I have the easiest time accepting."

That's "dad."

His son, Indigo Wilder, was born July 10, and he now co-parents the baby with his former girlfriend, KT Smith.

Looking back, the 27-year-old Tennessean admits to PEOPLE that being a single dad "is not how I imagined parenthood. I wanted to have a family like my parents. My parents are still together, you know. They raised [me and my sisters] together. That was my idea of what my life would look like. That's not the way it turned out. And I struggled with that a little bit when I first found out."

But by the baby's arrival, Wallen was excited to welcome him, and he joyfully announced the birth to fans in a July 13 Instagram post. "I didn't know what being a dad is like, honestly have been a little scared," he wrote. "But it's the coolest damn feeling, and I'm ready for whatever God has planned for my little guy and me."

Wallen says he and Smith had broken off their years-long relationship before their baby — whom they call Indie — was conceived, but "obviously we still saw each other some." He says he's "thankful" to share his son "with someone I care about. We're doing our best to figure it out, just trying to do the best we can with the situation. I mean, many people have been in this situation before — having a kid with someone you're not with — but knowing that doesn't make it any easier."

The singer admits he and Smith faced "some difficulties" in the early days of their co-parenting, but "the most important thing is he's in our life now. He's happy. He's healthy. He's incredible."

As Wallen has grown into his new role, he says he's leaned on his parents, Tommy and Lesli, who've traveled from their home in Tennessee, to help with their grandson's care. "I'm still learning," Wallen acknowledges. "I would not consider myself an expert by any means."

Now six months old, Indie is finally reaching an age for overnight stays, says Wallen. "We're just now starting that," he says. "We just got everything figured out. But KT's worked with me throughout the whole time, so I've been able to see him a lot since he was born. So if you walk in my house now, you think a baby lives here."

As he considers raising his son, Wallen admits to feeling a growing weight of responsibility. Indeed, in his Instagram birth announcement, he promised the boy: "I'll be the Dad you deserve as well as the co-parent your mother deserves. Since you were born, I know every decision I make will be with you in mind. I promise I'll always protect you and do my best to be an example of a good, godly man just like my daddy was for me."

That promise was tested last October when he was booted from the Saturday Night Live lineup after online videos showed him defying COVID-19 protocols. Then, he kissed several young women during a weekend at the University of Alabama — an episode that underscored the power and pitfalls of his newly minted superstardom.

After retreating from the spotlight for a month of self-reflection, he confessed to broadcast personality Bobby Bones that, among his realizations, was that he'd set a poor example for his son. "I don't know that I'd be proud to show him those videos," he said in the podcast interview. "I gotta think about some things a little bit differently."

Today, Wallen still holds tight to his high aspirations as a parent, knowing his role will soon become more challenging as Indie begins to talk and ask questions.

"I just hope to give him as sound advice as my parents gave me and show him love and let him know that I'm here for him and that I'm his friend," Wallen says. "I'm here to help, and I'm here to guide. I'm just gonna try to do the best I can."

That task, of course, will become more difficult when Wallen begins touring again. "My life will get a lot more hectic," he allows. "I'll probably have to hire a nanny or do something because I know that sometimes I'm not going to be able always to be as hands-on as I need to be. I still want to be as much a part of his life as I can, but I have obligations to fulfill to take care of him. I know that that's on the horizon, so those thoughts are in my head, and I'm going to do the best I can to ensure that everything is as good as possible."

In the meantime, he says he's simply happy for his time with his son. "I think he's going to be a great little dude," Wallen says.
