Just a few miles east of Baton Rouge on I-12 and U.S. Highway 190 is the city of Denham Springs, located in Livingston Parish. The population of this rapidly growing community is over 9,000 residents. Many people who work in Baton Rouge live in the many new developments and subdivisions in Denham Springs and the nearby community of Walker. In 1827, William Denham discovered a number of mineral springs on his property located on River Road. The city was named after Mr. Denham. Area towns include Walker, Port Vincent, Watson, Holden, and Maurepas. The Amite River runs north-south through Denham Springs, and serves as the parish line between East Baton Rouge Parish and Livingston Parish.
