You are permitted to install MATLAB Student and Home on up to two computers and you may transfer a MATLAB Student or Home license up to two times per year. MATLAB Student and Home must be deactivated before it can be transferred to a new machine.

The simplest way to deactivate MATLAB Student and Home is from within MATLAB itself. From within MATLAB:

  • Click the word "Help" in the toolstrip, beneath the white question mark that launches the help browser.
  • Go to the "Licensing" menu.
  • Select "Deactivate software..."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the deactivation process.

If the machine you wish to deactivate MATLAB from is no longer available, you can deactivate MATLAB from the MathWorks website: Follow the steps below to deactivate MATLAB:

  • Log in to your MathWorks account: https://www.mathworks.com/mwaccount/
  • Click on the "Manage" icon under the license you would like to deactivate MATLAB from
  • Switch to the tab "Install and Activate".
  • Click "Deactivate a computer" on the right.
  • Click the blue circle with the white X for the computer you would like to deactivate.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the deactivation process.

Once you have deactivated your previous activations you will be able to activate MATLAB on your new computer. Deactivating the old machine and activating on the new machine completes the license transfer process. If you are unable to deactivate MATLAB for some reason, please contact MathWorks support:

Metashape is a proprietary software solution. The software and documentation are supplied electronically. You will receive a registration code by e-mail after your order is processed. This registration code allows to convert a demo Metashape version into a fully featured registered version.

Agisoft offers rehostable node-locked and floating licenses. Metashape license is NOT time-limited.

Metashape license includes 12 month of e-mail based technical support and entitles the licensee to free updates of the software up to the version 1.9.x (see the current released version number at Installer page).

To support education in the field of photogrammetry, Agisoft offers educational licenses to educational institutions. Please remember that Metashape license does not allow to provide access to the software to the third parties, in particular, over the Internet, including, without limitation, in connection with a web hosting, commercial time sharing, service bureau, or similar service.

Node-Locked License (previously called Stand-Alone license) is a rehostable node-locked license, i.e. one license allows to activate the program at one machine only, however, the license can be transferred to a different computer if needed. Node-Locked license allows to use Metashape software in all kinds of paid and unpaid projects. The license is available both to individuals and legal entities, such as companies, firms, museums, research institutions, governmental institutions, etc.

Floating license allows to install the program on as many computers as desired and run it, at any one time, on as many systems as the number of licenses purchased indicates. One computing machine shall be designated as the "license server"; the license server utility installed on it will manage license distribution across the network of computers where the program has been installed. Floating license is available for Agisoft Metashape Professional Edition only.

Educational licenses (rehostable node-locked) and Educational Floating licenses are available exclusively to accredited educational institutions, their employees and students of such institutions. Only officially accredited educational institutions are eligible to obtain Agisoft Metashape educational licenses. This includes: universities, colleges, junior colleges, scientific and technical schools, vocational schools, and correspondence schools. Educational or Educational Floating licenses can also be purchased by students and officially employed teaching and research staff of officially accredited educational institutions. Any educational license prohibits all commercial uses of the software. Educational / Educational Floating and Node-Locked / Floating licenses differ legally but are technically identical.

There are three types of licenses for Q Professional:

  1. A Standard License allows you to install Q Professional on one computer and for one Named User to use Q Professional on that computer.
  2. A Transferable License allows you to install Q Professional for use by an unlimited number of Concurrent Users, but each Transferable License may only be used by one Concurrent User on one computer at any one time.

You can purchase multiple quantities of either type of license.

  1. A Trial License allows you and your colleagues to test the functionality of Q Professional for a limited number of time on multiple computers.

Standard License

To use a Standard License, you must:

  • install a copy of Q Professional on the one computer on which the Standard License will be used;
  • ensure that only one Named User uses Q Professional on that one computer;
  • not use that Standard License for Q Professional on another computer (whether through remote access software or otherwise), unless you transfer that Standard License to the other computer in accordance with the following point;
  • not regularly ‘swap’ or ‘transfer’ the Standard License to another computer or Named User. If you need to transfer your Standard License to another computer or Named User from time-to-time (for example, due to do the replacement of computer hardware or personnel changes), you can do so by following the steps at How to Move a Standard License to Another Machine; and
  • not use Terminal Services – a Standard License does not work on Terminal Services.

A Named User is an individual whom you have identified to us as the user of the relevant license, in the manner we require from time to time.

Transferable License

To use a Transferable License:

  • Q Professional must be ‘checked out’ (over the Internet) when you want to use it; and,
  • one Transferable License may only be checked out by one person at a time, like borrowing a book from a library. If you purchase two Transferable Licenses, it is like a library having two copies of a book to borrow.

Additionally:

  • As a Transferable License costs approximately three times the price of a Standard License, Transferable Licenses are economically viable when your company has 4 people or more that do not need to use Q Professional at the same time; and
  • A Transferable License may be used with Terminal Services.

A Concurrent User is a user authorized to use the Software concurrently with other Concurrent Users.

Trial License

When you are using a Trial License:

  • you and your colleagues may install Q Professional on multiple computers.
  • you may use Terminal Services – however be aware that once your trial is complete you must purchase a Transferable License (a Standard License does not work on Terminal Services).
