What does david lettermans son do

Well-known talk show host David Letterman is a father to Harry Joseph Letterman, who he shares with his wife, Regina Lasko. In 2005, Harry Joseph was almost kidnapped by a man who worked as a painter in their home.

Harry Joseph Letterman is the only child of David Letterman and Regina Lasko. He was born on November 3, 2003, and Letterman announced on his show that his son weighed 9 pounds, 11 ounces at birth.

The first-time dad was so excited about the arrival of his first child and couldn't stop talking about him. He was also amazed at how beautiful his son turned out to be.

Letterman, who was 56 at the time, revealed that he named his son after his father, who sadly died at 57 years old. He said, "So God bless dad, and God bless Harry."

The comedian, producer, and writer even joked about not being sure if he should have become a father; the first thing he did was dangle his son over the balcony, a reference to when singer Michael Jackson did the same to one of his children.

THE STORY OF HARRY'S FAILED KIDNAPPING PLOT

Harry Joseph Letterman's parents, who only got married when their son was six, had a serious scare in 2005 when someone threatened to kidnap their son and his nanny. At the time, David and Regina were busy working behind the scenes for Letterman's show and "Saturday Night Live." They didn't know they risked losing their son.

When their only child was nearly eighteen months old, David's family was tested in the toughest way possible. A man named Kelly Allen Frank from Montana, who worked as a painter in their home, planned to kidnap the couple's son and his nanny and demand a ransom of $5 million.

Thankfully, the kidnapping plot was foiled, and Harry was unharmed. Frank was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison. However, he escaped in 2007 but was recaptured shortly after and later released on parole in 2014.

Frank ended up being arrested again after a year for violating the terms of his parole. He was later freed again from a Montana prison after he finished serving additional years in jail.

WHAT IS HARRY JOSEPH UP TO NOW?

Harry Joseph Letterman's parents may be in the entertainment industry, and his dad may be a big celebrity, but Harry mostly stays out of the limelight. He was, however, mentioned in a story his father told this year. In April 2022, David thanked the hospital staff in Rhode Island in a YouTube video for treating him well after the talk show host had a fall. The 75-year-old was walking with his son in Providence when he fell and hit his head.

The talk show host has expressed how much he adores his son, Harry, saying:

"You are in love with your wife. But the real deal doesn't happen until you have a kid."

During an interview in 2020, David revealed that his son was just over 6 feet tall. He also mentioned that his son was mainly focused on school and trying to discover who he was. David said that the only great thing about quarantining was that he could spend enough time with Harry, who he said was "very entertaining."

The doting dad clearly adores his child and enjoys being around him. David once said about his son:

"The most secure I ever feel is when I'm around my son. The best part is that I get to do stuff with my son."

David Letterman has been able to spend more than enough time with Harry since he stopped hosting his show in 2015. We hope the bond between father and son grows stronger every day.

David Letterman is opening up about becoming an empty nester!

On Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday, the legendary funnyman, 75, shared how he recently sent his son, Harry, away to college.

"Harry is my son, and all reports indicate that he's okay," Letterman told Kimmel. "They tell me he's in college."

But the transition has not been as seamless as the former Late Show host thought it would be.

"I thought it would be nothing, but it's devastating," he said. "Am I the only one that feels that way?"

In trademark Letterman fashion, the comedian then dryly recalled the story of taking Harry and his "truckload of crap" to school and lugging a sofa up three flights of stairs.

"Is that true?" Kimmel asked Letterman, cracking up.

"Is that true?" Letterman then returned back, laughing. "This stuff's gotta be true?"

The Netflix personality added that he has thankfully stayed in touch with his son over the past month that Harry has been away.

"We text now and then, and I got a text from him today…forgive me if I'm sounding a little over-emotional about this," Letterman said, and then added his son told him that there were no classes that day.

"I'm thinking, I'm getting my money's worth here!" Letterman said.

Later in the interview, he also shared another conversation he had with Harry.

"I called him, a week into it. 'Hi, Harry. Harry, have you met the kid yet who sells weed?'" Letterman said. "And Harry says, 'I cannot confirm or deny.'"

The television icon and his son have maintained a close relationship over the years.

In 2019, Letterman opened up to Willie Geist on Sunday Today about the connection he has with Harry, who he shares with wife Regina Lasko, and how he has tried to lean into being his son's best buddy.

"Look at me — how much longer am I going to be around?" he asked. "I want to be the best friend."

Letterman added that he feels most at peace when he's with his family.

"The most secure I ever feel is when I'm around my son," he said.
