Does Windows 10 Reddit 2022 need antivirus?

Depends on how you define "best".

Windows Defender's come a long way, top-tier detection and free of course. A bit heavy, comparatively - but probably not noticeable. There's really very little reason you wouldn't use this.

Kaspersky is one of the lightest options and consistently leading the rankings in various tests. Also one of the most customizable, and a personal favorite of mine. However, it does have Russian/Kremlin ties if that's a concern for you.

BitDefender is also very light and has also consistently performed well in testing. Not much in the way of options, and a major downside is that it requires linking to their website which allows you to activate certain functions remotely - but also means if the site or your account is breached a bad actor could wipe your PC.

I used Kaspersky for years prior the Ukraine situation and then switched to BitDefender. I hope to be able to consider Kaspersky safe once again one day soon and return to it.
