The shitty feeling you get straight after eating a McDonalds meal, usually coupled with a 'still hungry' feeling. Usually due to all the additives and addictive ingredients in the food.

Symptoms include bloatedness, tiredness, feeling sick, feeling ridiculously full but still wanting to pump your face full of food; We call this phantom hunger. Recent studies show that McDonalds Hangovers are most common on Sunday's, with 62% occurring on this day.

The feeling you get usually within hours, and sometimes the next day after eating McDonald's. Feelings of extreme stomach pains, sharpness, bloating, headaches, diarrhea, and if you are lucky, anal leakage.

It is not uncommon to go to the bathroom several times after eating McDonald's to go poop. The poop is usually black or greenish.

Ohh man I was in the bathroom 4 times the past hour, damn McDonalds Hangover. I will never eat there again.

Similar to a alochol related hangover you will eat at McDonald's the next week.

Every time when you pass by the giant logos of those fast food restaurants like KFC or McDonald’s, don’t you feel like it’s tempting you to get in and order something? Even if you don’t feel hungry, it seems to have a spell to make you feel that way. Don’t feel guilty when you have that feeling, because the colours of those logos are affecting you.

How do colours affect our mood and behaviour?

Colours influence our daily life by affecting moods. Research has found out colour in the form of light gets into eyes and transfers into signals affecting the brain waves, then autonomic nervous systems react and generate hormones to create the emotions we feel.

Different colours reflect different emotions. The red colour gives us a strong feeling of passion or anger; while yellow and orange has an alerting effect and can make people feel hungry; green on the other hand represents earth and nature and can give out natural and healthy indications; white can make people feel clean or plain if too much; black in the contrast gives elegant feeling but also can represent dark; lastly blue is an uncommon colour in nature which has a calming function.

So how exactly do those colours affect you?

Most of the popular restaurants including these fast food restaurants have red, yellow and orange colours in their logos and those colours combined together can make people feel ‘passionately hungry’. Which is why it is easier for you to go to those fast food chains instead of some restaurants with blue or black themed logos.

Moreover, those fried chicken and hamburgers with fries are all cooked till they are yellow with some orange, which is tempting as well. Despite that, spicy food is popular as well due to not only it’s taste but the red and orange colour of the chili oil as well. On the other hand, food stores like Subway have green on their logo which indicates their food is healthy so people would choose them to feel they got some healthy food.

This happens due to our brain’s association ability, it links red, yellow and orange to sun and fire, which is a symbol of energy and passion. While green is linked to grass and since it represents nature, therefore we link green with healing and health. Blue on the other hand is the colour of sky, we link that with deep void as relax symbol.

The effect happens easily when we are tired or not paying attention to things. For example, after a day of school or work, on the way home while feeling tired, we might feel tempted by those fast food chains. Sometimes we feel a little unwell and at that moment our decisions are affected by current situations and our choice of food will tend to have a little bit more green.

What can you do to benefit from this effect?

Now you know that some of the emotions and behaviours are affected by colours, next time when you feel hungry around those fast food chains, you can recognize it’s the colour affecting your choice, not some impulsive decisions. Moreover, you can even use yellow with red colour food to change appetite; or use yellow pen to make alerting signs. You can also use blue curtains or even paint the bedroom wall blue to create a peaceful atmosphere for easier sleep.

Moreover, looking at the trees or lawn in between work or study to relax and recharge yourself. In these ways you can not only realize the reason behind some of your decisions but also come up with ideas benefiting you, and use this colour-emotion relationship to make your life easier and with better quality.

No one would ever mistake the McDonald’s Big Mac for health food, but a new infographic details just how bad for you it can be.

The graphic, from website Fast Food Menu Price, breaks down exactly what the Big Mac does to your body within an hour of eating it.

It’s not pretty: Among other things, the iconic burger raises your blood sugar, dehydrates you, and makes you feel hungry again just 40 minutes after eating it.

Here’s what you can expect:

In the first 10 minutes: The Big Mac (and its 540 calories) raises your blood sugar to abnormal levels. Junk food like the Big Mac triggers your brain’s reward system by releasing “feel-good” chemicals, such as the neurotransmitter dopamine. The process works in a similar way to the reaction you’d get after taking a drug like cocaine and raises the likelihood of compulsive eating.

After 20 minutes: The Big Mac’s bun has high levels of high-fructose corn syrup and sodium — both of which are addictive and make your body crave more.

After 30 minutes: The burger’s 970 milligrams of sodium can cause dehydration. The symptoms of dehydration are similar to those of hunger, tricking you into thinking you want more food. Your kidneys have trouble eliminating the salt, and your heart has to work faster to pump blood through your veins. This can cause high blood pressure and can ultimately lead to heart disease and stroke.

After 40 minutes: You start to feel hungry again. When you eat a high calorie meal, your body’s insulin response can bring down your glucose levels, causing you to want to eat more. The bun’s high-fructose corn syrup is quickly absorbed by your GI tract, creating insulin spikes and even bigger hunger pangs.

After 60 minutes: Your body typically takes 24 to 72 hours to digest food, but burgers can take more time because they are greasier. The Big Mac can take more than three days to fully digest.

While the infographic is surprising, registered dietitian nutritionist Beth Warren, author of Living a Real Life With Real Food tells Yahoo Health that it paints a fairly accurate picture. “It’s not one ingredient that is a concern, but a lot of different reasons to take caution when eating a Big Mac,” she says.

Certified dietitian nutritionist Lisa Moskovitz, CEO of NewYork Nutrition Group tells Yahoo Health that the immediate reaction to eating a Big Mac varies from person to person, adding that the infographic is accurate but “somewhat exaggerated.”

Among other exaggerations, Moskovitz says, the claim that your blood sugar will climb to “abnormal levels” isn’t 100 percent true. “Everyone’s body has a different blood sugar and insulin response,” she says. “Because there is also a significant amount of fat in a Big Mac, it may slow down the conversion of the carbs into glucose that travel through the blood stream.”

She also points out that a Big Mac’s ability to dehydrate you depends on the individual, along with other factors like daily exercise habits, medical history, and your current state of hydration.

Both experts agree that the Big Mac shouldn’t be a regular part of your diet, but add that it’s OK to have it once in a while. “I usually tell my patients to treat themselves once a week with one choice,” says Warren. “However, because of the Big Mac’s abundant amount of nutritional health concerns, that would equal up to more than one choice of a cheat.”
