Who is the father of angelas baby

"The Deerhunter" is my favorite movie of all time, and I never tire of watching it. Here's something that occurred to me many viewings ago -- it seems to me that Nick is the father of Angela's baby for a few reasons: 1) Steven has not slept with Angela before their wedding, but we all know she is pregnant. 2) The guy-talk after the reception -- Stash is being a boor, but it is Nick who tells Steven to "forget about it" when he (Steven) admits that he has never been with Angela and the baby is not his. 3) The baby, when we finally see him, is a towhead. Just like Nick. 4) Nick sending all that money to Steven from Saigon -- what was that all about? 5) At the end of Nick's burial, the one who lingers at Nick's gravesite, blonde baby in arms, is Angela. You would think it would be Linda, since she was Nick's girl, but it is Angela. If the baby were Stash's, wouldn't he have dark hair, since both Stash and Angela have dark hair? (I know that dark-haired parents often produce blonde children, but in cinema, these details usually point to a specific conclusion.)

I must have seen the movie fifty times before it even occurred to me that Angela's baby was Nick's, but when it did occur to me, it seemed perfectly logical. Thoughts?
