Stop & Shop is a Northeastern grocery chain that has a grocery pickup option at some of its 400-plus stores. Here’s what you need to know about Stop & Shop pickup.

How does Stop & Shop pickup work?

Using Stop & Shop’s pickup option is easy. You can do it via the Stop & Shop website or the Stop & Shop app.

  1. Make sure you have and are logged into your Stop & Shop account — this is how you earn points and save coupons
  2. Enter your address and select the nearest pickup-eligible Stop & Shop location
  3. Start shopping — and don’t forget to clip coupons! (More on that below)
  4. Select your time slot and pay. Keep in mind your time is not reserved until checkout is complete
  5. Head to the correct store during your designated window of time

Stop & Shop pickup is only available at some locations.

The Northeastern grocery chain has more than 400 locations across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, but only a selection of stores have a pickup option.

To find out if your area has a pickup-eligible Stop & Shop location, enter your zip code on the Stop & Shop website or app and select the “pickup” option when prompted. You will then select from a list of nearby Stop & Shop stores that do pickup.

Stop & Shop has a $30 minimum for pickup orders.

All Stop & Shop pickup orders have a $30 minimum and delivery orders have a $60 minimum.

Both pick and delivery for Stop & Shop are done through their partner, Peapod.

Stop & Shop charges a $2.95 fee for all pickup orders.

Regardless of the order total, there is a flat $2.95 fee on all Stop & Shop pickup orders.

It’s easy to clip coupons from the Stop & Shop weekly ad.

You can browse offers at ShopandShop.com or in the app, or visit the Stop & Shop weekly ad before ticking through your shopping list.

Just like shopping in store, your Stop & Shop pickup order will earn you Go Rewards.

Make sure you’re logged into your account when placing a Stop & Shop pickup order online or via the app — just like shopping in store, you’ll earn GO Rewards.

Every dollar spent is one point earned, which can be converted into grocery dollars, coupled with Fuel Rewards for extra savings at the gas pump, or donated to a charity.

You can access Stop & Shop’s full selection for pickup orders.

Just about any item you can find in store should be available on the Stop & Shop website and in the Stop & Shop app. There is even a “browse aisle” option. Of course, inventory may vary based on region.

Substitutions are automatic unless you specify otherwise.

You can specify whether or not you’d like order substitutions in your account preferences. You can also select or unselect substitutions per item in your cart before checking out.

If substitutions are turned on for your order, you’ll get an email informing you of the replacement before pickup.

Stop & Shop pickup times are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

You can select any available hour-long slot between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. when placing a pickup order.

The soonest you can get your pickup order is usually next day, but of course this varies by location. If you start a pickup order bright and early, you may be able to snag an afternoon or evening pickup spot!

Stop & Shop has launched same-day online grocery pickup at 20 stores as part of a bigger rollout this year.

Powered by Peapod, the e-commerce arm of Stop & Shop parent Ahold Delhaize USA, the click-and-collect service enables customers to pick up online grocery orders at stores in as soon as four hours, the Quincy, Mass.-based supermarket chain said Thursday.

Peapod by Stop & Shop pickup service is now available at 10 stores in Massachusetts, eight stores in Rhode Island and one each in Connecticut and New York.

Stop & Shop said the new service gives shoppers access to a wider selection of groceries online — including fresh items such as pre-cut fruit, prepared food and entertaining trays — that are available at their local store.

“As we continue to improve the omnichannel experience for our customers, we plan to roll out 175 of these click-and-collect locations by the end of the year,” Stop & Shop President Mark McGowan said in a statement. “We’re excited to offer our customers the convenience of shopping online for all the products available at their local store, which they can now pick up in just a few hours.”

The service works as follows: Customers go online to Peapod.com, choose “Pickup” for their preferred store and then go to the store at the selected pickup time. At the store, they park in a “Grocery Pickup” spot, call a phone number to signal their arrival and then a Stop & Shop store associate will bring their groceries to their car. Stop & Shop said each store has four to six designated parking spots for grocery pickup.

Same-day online pickup costs $2.95. New pickup customers can get the service free for 90 days by entering promo code “SSFREEPICKUP” at checkout. The pickup fee waived on first order and then on all ensuing orders of $30 or more if placed within 90 days of the first order.

Stop & Shop locations offering same-day online pickup include stores in Chelmsford, Harwich, Malden, Orleans (Cranberry Cove Plaza), Pembroke, Revere (Squire Road), Seekonk, Somerset, South New Bedford and Whitman, Mass.; Warwick (Warwick Avenue), Cranston (Atwood Avenue), Cumberland, Johnston, North Kingstown, Pawtucket (Cottage Street), Providence (Branch Avenue) and Smithfield, R.I.; South Winsor, Conn.; and East Northport, N.Y.

Last fall, Stop & Shop highlighted Peapod online pickup as one key feature of a five-year plan to implement a new look and shopping experience at its 412 stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and New Jersey. That effort began at 21 stores in the Hartford, Conn., area, where customers placing online and mobile grocery orders can drive up beneath solar-powered canopies to pick up their items. Stop & Shop stores on Long Island, N.Y., are next up for the store upgrade program, slated for this year.

This spring, in a pilot with San Francisco-based Robomart Inc. at stores in the Boston area, Stop & Shop also plans to test driverless vehicles that bring consumers a selection of groceries when summoned via an app.

During fiscal 2018, Peapod boosted its order delivery capacity by 10% in metropolitan New York with the opening of its fifth wareroom on Long Island, a 10,000-square-foot facility at the Stop & Shop in East Northport. The wareroom handles both home delivery and click-and-collect orders. Stop & Shop also launched its first micro-fulfillment center in Hartford in fiscal 2018 and is slated to build several more in 2019, with additional expansion in 2020.

Grocery shopping has been one of my most dreaded tasks for the past few years, especially when the boys were toddlers. It was a usually a struggle to keep them both entertained while I went up and down the aisles. A number of times I ended up with random food at home not realizing the boys had thrown it in the cart. There was this one time in particular that a small $6 ham was sitting in our fridge for weeks. One day I got tired of looking at it and finally asked my husband what he was going to do with it.  “I didn’t pick it up, I thought you did.” Turns out one of the boys must have slipped it in the cart.

Grocery shopping without stepping foot into the grocery store? Yes, please!

<

This past week I was invited to learn about the Peapod by Stop & Shop curbside grocery pick-up service. Peapod had previously been available for delivery service but are now offering free pick up service with no minimum order in select Stop & Shop locations. Now I can do all of my grocery shopping once the boys go to sleep, and schedule a time to pick it up.

Arrive at the local Stop & Shop during your predesignated time and pull up to the assigned area. An attendant will greet you, get your groceries from the insulated storage containers and pack them right into your trunk! Grocery shopping without having to step foot into grocery store, my dream come true!

Signing up for Peapod and shopping is easy.

Shop at Peapod.com to help you Save money! Sort and compare prices, track your total, and limit impulse purchases when you shop!

Once you create a Peapod account, make sure to enter your Stop & Shop number that way you’ll be able to view and shop from a list of your previous in-store purchases. Since you wont be walking up and down the aisles you may forget an ingredient you need, or may not remember to purchase. By viewing my previous shopping trips I was able to add ingredients to the cart that I would otherwise have forgotten about, like cream for my coffee.

Not all items and varieties are available through the Stop and Shop Peapod service since they do not come directly from aisles inside the Stop & Shop, but at state-of-the-art food centers which are attached to certain local Stop & Shop stores. All of the items I needed this week were available, but while browsing I did notice that not all brands were available. Peapod is always adding new items weekly and you can also submit requests.

My Specials & Weekly Specials:

In addition to browsing the aisles, you can also conveniently shop the sales through the My Specials and Weekly Specials tab and clip Stop and Shop coupons. The My Specials are items that you have previously purchased that are currently on sale, and most of the weekly specials available at your local Stop & Shop locations are also available through Peapod. While some sales may not be available, Peapod offers web only specials and coupons.

Stop and Shop Coupons:

I’m a bargain shopper and the weekly sales and coupons help me to decide on what to have for lunches and dinners for that week. I love being able to clip the Stop and Shop coupons and have the amount deducted immediately from the cart allowing me to view the total at all times.

Always view the total:

One of my favorite features about Peapod by Stop and Shop is being able to see exactly how much I’m spending every time I add something in the cart. I’m able to stay on budget and reduce the impulse buying. If the total is more then I want, then I can easily go through and delete items from the cart without having to run through the isles to put them back – I honestly don’t think I’ve ever put a grocery item back in-store because the total more then I wanted to spend.

Nutrifilter:

If you have a nut allergy, dairy allergy, need gluten free products or are looking for healthier options the NutriFilter® tool helps you to easily sift through all products and highlights the ones that meet your nutritional goals.

One hour pick-up window:

During checkout, select a one hour pick up time. Up until the day before you will be able to delete/add to your order or change the pick-up window time. Each select Stop & Shop will have a designated area for pick-ups where you will be greeted by an attended who will load the groceries into your vehicle. If you have any clip-able coupons, hand them to the associate during pickup and they will be credited to your account.

Not only is the free curbside grocery pick up convenient for busy mother’s like myself but if you have elderly parents or family members that do not live close by, you can do their grocery shopping online and have them visit the curbside pickup location, they don’t even have to get out of their car, the groceries will be placed conveniently in their trunk.

Instead of spending your precious time off on the weekends battling the grocery store, order you groceries using Peapod free curbside pick up service, with no minimum order!
