HP PCs - Adjust the Text Size and Zoom In or Out (Windows)
This document is for computers with Windows.
Learn to make objects in Windows, such as desktop icons or text, larger or smaller. Also zoom in or out in applications and webpages to make objects and text display larger or smaller.
Zoom using the click-wheel on your mouse
If you have a mouse with a click-wheel connected to your computer, you can use it to make objects (such as desktop icons, or a webpage) larger or smaller.
Click anywhere on the Windows desktop or open the webpage you want to view.
Press and hold the CTRL key on your keyboard.
Roll the scroll wheel on the mouse to shrink or enlarge the objects on the screen.
Zoom using the keyboard
You can use your keyboard to zoom in or out. This method works in many applications and web browsers.
Click anywhere on the Windows desktop or open the webpage you want to view.
Press and hold the CTRL key, and then press either the + (Plus sign) or - (Minus sign) to make objects on the screen larger or smaller.
To restore normal view, press and hold the CTRL key, and then press 0.
Adjust the size of text in Windows settings
Choose your operating system to adjust the size of text and icons.
Windows 10
Open Ease of access vision settings to adjust the size settings for text and other items in Windows 10.
In Windows, search for and open Ease of access vision settings.
Use the slider bar under Make text bigger to enlarge or shrink the size of text, and then click Apply.
Under Make everything bigger, use the dropdown menu to select the size of apps and text on the main display.
note:
If you have more than one display, click Change the size of apps and text on other displays, to select another display to configure.
Windows 8
Open Display settings to adjust the size settings for text and other items in Windows 8.
Search Windows for Display, and then select Display from the list of search results.
Select Smaller, Medium, or Larger, and then click Apply.
Zoom using the TouchPad (Notebook PCs)
If you have a notebook computer with a TouchPad, use the TouchPad zoom feature to shrink or enlarge objects on the screen with the pinch gesture.
Zoom in (make larger): move 2 fingers apart
Zoom out (make smaller): move 2 fingers together
Enable or disable the TouchPad zoom feature:
Windows 10
Configure the TouchPad zoom feature in Windows 10.
In Windows, search for and open Mouse settings, and then click Additional mouse options.
On the ClickPad or TouchPad Settings tab of the Mouse Properties screen, click the ClickPad Settings or TouchPad Settings button.
Use the options that display to adjust the TouchPad or ClickPad settings for gestures, scrolling, tapping and clicking.
To disable MultiFinger Gestures, de-select the check marks for the MultiFinger Gestures, and then click OK.
Click OK to close the Mouse Properties window.
Windows 8
Configure the TouchPad zoom feature in Windows 8.
Click Start, type mouse in the search field, and then select Mouse from the Control Panel section of the search results.
The Mouse Properties window displays.
Click the Device Settings tab, select the Synaptic TouchPad device, and then click the Settings button.
Use the options to adjust the TouchPad settings for scrolling, buttons, touch sensitivity, edge sensitivity, and gesture actions.
