How long is the Super Bowl halftime show 2022

Super Bowl Sunday is here and it’s time to see who wins the 56th version of the big game after an enthralling campaign - but almost as famous as the game itself is the halftime show.

Cincinnati Bengals face Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 56 with the former aiming to earn their first NFL title in the Super Bowl era.

The Super Bowl era began at the end of the 1966 NFL season and saw Green Bay Packers defeat Kansas City Chiefs 35-10 in Super Bowl I on January 15, 1967.

Since then the match has become more than just the AFC and NFC conference winners going head to head to determine the NFL champions, it has become an event all to itself. Over 100 million Americans, for instance, tune in to watch the game which has the most famous halftime show in sport.

The Bengals will have their chance to win the Super Bowl for the first time tonight after losing at the final hurdle at the end of the 1981 and 1988 NFL seasons, while the Rams are chasing a second crown.

But fans searching for all the information around the game itself tonight are also bound to be eager to know when and how long the aforementioned halftime lasts.

Here is all the information you need to know about the upcoming Super Bowl 56 halftime show which is set to take place at the SoFi Stadium in LA tonight.

Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J Blige and Kendrick Lamar will perform at the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Eminem has also previewed the set: “When the whole thing started going down and we were like, ‘OK, this might be actually serious.’ I was trying to envision what Dre. might do. I was thinking like, yeah, that’s dope that all of us are gonna rap together, right, and that kind of thing, but I didn’t expect the production to be like this.”

Mary J Blige added: “Listen, you’re gonna be paid for the rest of your life off of this,” she told The Cruz Show, per NME. “People are gonna be knocking at your doors. They don’t have to pay me, but if they was paying it would be a lot of money.”

The Super Bowl starts at 6.30pm ET, which is 11.30pm GMT for UK viewers.

There is no exact time for the Super Bowl halftime show to start as it depends on how much the game clock stops during the contest. But the rough timing for the start of the halftime show is around 1am UK time.

The Super Bowl will be broadcast live on BBC One and Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports NFL. Fans can also watch via the BBC website and Sky Go app.

Super Bowl halftime usually lasts anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes - up to twice as long as the traditional break time during regular NFL matches.

This is to accommodate for lengthy halftime shows, which can last around 15 minutes. Justin Timberlake’s 2018 performance lasted almost 14 minutes, while Lady Gaga’s show went on for 13 and half minutes the year before.

With the game itself scheduled to get underway at 11:30pm GMT, the halftime show is likely to begin around 1am on Monday morning (GMT). Make sure to tune in earlier though so you don’t miss anything!

There isn’t an exact time the halftime show will end, however if the break lasts around 30 minutes then we can expect the action to resume shortly after 1:30am UK time.
