MS Access ODBC ( Recommended ) : Allows the connection to be made using a MS Access ODBC Data Source.

If not, follow the steps below to enable the COM extension:

Enabling the Extension

1. First, download the database engine indicated for the version of the database.

  • To connect to Access 2007 or older, it’s required to install the 2007 Access Database Engine, click here to download;
  • To connect to Access 2010 or Newer , it’s required to install the 2010 Access Database Engine, click here to download;

2. Finishing the download, follow the installation wizard if the Access Database Engine.

Creating a ODBC Data Source

1. Access Control Panel > Administrative Tools > ODBC Data Sources(32 bits);

   In case you have a data source created, continue to

Note: Even though your system may be 64 bits, Scriptcase uses the PHP 32 bits, which requires all the drivers of database connections being the same architecture as Scriptcase.

2. Select the tab System DSN and click on Add;

3. Select the one of the available drivers, you can choose one of these:

  • Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)
  • Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb)

Note: Select the driver depending on what extension your Access database file has.

4. After selecting the driver, the following window will open:

    Two fields are required for the data source configuration:

  • Data Source Name: The Data Source name that’ll be used in the Scriptcase when creating the connection;
  • Database: The path to where the database file is located;

5. After informing the Data Source Name, click on Select, to select the database file that’ll be used.

    The following window will be shown:

  • Drivers: List of the hard drives with their folders listed in Directories;
  • Directories: List of folders of the selected hard in Drives;
  • Database Name: List of files from the selected folder in Directories (Listed files with the selected extension type);
  • List Files of Type: Type of file extensions that’ll be listed in Database Name;

6. After selecting the database, click on OK to finish the configuration.

7. Returning to the window ODBC Data Source Administrator (32 bits), it’s possible to view the configured connections.

Creating a connection on Scriptcase

Now we’ll access Scriptcase from Scriptcase from the browser and create a connection with the MS Access database

Step 1: Access your Scriptcase, for example, on the toolbar go to the marked icon in the image below, referring to “New Connection”.

Step 2: After clicking “New Connection”, the page for creating connections will appear, click on the MS Access database image.

Step 3: On the following image, place the required information:

  • Connection Name - Define the name of your new connection.
  • DBMS Driver - Allows you to define the driver that’ll be used, bey default it’s MS Access ODBC.
  • Test Connection - Validates the connection and informs if it was successful or not.
  • ODBC Name - On this field, inform the name of the ODBC created on your system.
  • User - Inform the user of your ODBC connection if it has one.
  • Password - Inform the password of your ODBC connection if it has one.

  • Decimal Separator - Select the type of separator, between coma and period.
  • Persistent Connection - Persistent connections are connections that don’t close after running your script.
  • Use the schema before the table name - Allows the use of schemas before the table names.

  • Show - Allows to show Tables, Views, System Tables and Procedures.
  • Searches - Allows to define which tables and owners will be shown.

Step 4: Always test your connection before saving, if the message “Connection Success” appears, then save the connection. If it fails to connect, revise the fields that were informed, especially Username, Password, Database and Server/Host.
