Car sounds like a motorcycle when accelerating

I just recently noticed that the front end of my car has been sounding like a motorcycle whenever I accelerate. It doesn't sound as loud when the car is idle but definitely still louder than it was before (it also sounds quite loud for a second when I start the car).

I took a look under the car and think I've narrowed the sound down to a section of the exhaust system just before the catalytic converter (if you're starting from the front of the car). I also was able to grab a picture of where I think the sound is coming from. Not sure what the rusted out sheet of metal is in the picture but the sound seems to be coming from the pipe behind that: https://imgur.com/kroFNNY

I was also able to grab a couple of videos so you can hear the sound. This one is from the underside of the car: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3qxzg5g1zjg1jer/IMG_2622.MOV?dl=0

and this one is from the top: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hk23vja9a5bt43r/IMG_2623.MOV?dl=0

My hand must have covered the mic in a couple of parts in the video which is why it sounds muffled in certain sections.

The car is a 2010 Kia Forte. Anyone have any ideas on what it might be before I call a shop and bring it in?

In this post, we’ll look at Why Does My Car Sound Like A Motorcycle? whether you should be concerned. Bring your automobile to us if you hear a strange noise and suspect there is a problem but aren’t sure what it is. The exhaust system, which is made up of many distinct elements, can produce a loud Car Noise.

If one of these components is damaged, your car may sound like a motorcycle. Is this correct? The sound becomes more noticeable when you try to accelerate your car. There could be a number of reasons why your Car Sounds like a motorcycle. However, some of the essential causes are caused by the vehicle’s belt, exhaust system, and engine.

Because these are the most important components of any car, they are highly sophisticated. Because of the microscopic details and various elements, even minor damage to these parts can result in a loud Car Noise.

Damage to the engine, belt, exhaust system, or transmission is the four main concerns that might cause your car to start sounding like a motorbike.

Car sounds like a motorcycle when accelerating

Engine Based Sounds

Your car’s engine is one of the most important components. However, when it comes to Motorcycle Sounds created by your car, this is the main offender. Any engine would run smoothly if all of your vehicle’s components were in good working order.

Otherwise, it would emit a motorcycle-like rumble. Engine valves open and close to make it easier for air and fuel to travel through your car’s exhaust.

The sound becomes particularly prominent when the valves act quickly. Other sections of the engine, in addition to the pipes, produce a lot of noise in your car. Pistons and bearings are what they are. Any wear and tear on these components could cause your automobile to sound like a motorcycle.

Drive Train

Though the term “drivetrain” may be strange, it has a straightforward meaning. Your car’s drivetrain is what propels it forward. The drivetrain is made up of various parts. Axles, transmissions, transfer cases, and a variety of other components are among them.

If your car has been driven for a number of years, any of these drivetrain components may have worn out. When you try to speed up your vehicle, the wear and tear make loud noises.

Exhaust System

Because the exhaust system is made up of various components such as a muffler, header pipe, and resonator, it is prone to making a loud noise. Even the tiniest damage to one of these components can turn your automobile into a hotspot for Motorcycle Like Noises.

The exhaust system is in charge of transporting exhaust gases from the front of the vehicle to the rear of the vehicle. There could be a minor leak in any of the above-mentioned components, causing your automobile to generate loud motorcycle-like noises. When you try to accelerate your car, the sound becomes more evident.

Car Belt

Though the sound created by a problem with your car’s belt is more squeaky than loud, it is still an important element. When you try to speed or make a turn, this noise becomes evident. When the belt pulley fails to start, the sound becomes louder. Your car’s belt is having trouble providing smooth service because of the raise.

Solutions For Car Suddenly Sounds Like A Motorcycle

If the fault is with your vehicle’s drivetrain or engine, the repair will be rather costly. The majority of the components in your car’s drivetrain are already expensive. Any of the aforementioned elements would cost a significant amount of money to replace. The longer you wait to repair something, the higher the expense will be.

When there are loud noises coming from the engine or drivetrain, it’s always a good idea to visit a professional mechanic. Also, don’t attempt to fix the problem yourself because these two components are the most important in an automobile.

To begin the process of correcting an exhaust leak, the leak must first be discovered. In order to solve the problem, several sections of the exhaust system must be replaced.

Make sure all new parts are completely sealed before installing them. Not only would proper and correct installation of new components eliminate the motorcycle-like sound from your vehicle, but it will also greatly reduce vibrations.

If your vehicle’s problem is with the belt, you won’t have to spend a lot of money. This kind of noise is easily observable and inexpensive to repair. Normally, you’d have to replace your belt entirely, and your car would be perfect.

Why Does My Car Sound Like A Motorcycle When I Hit The Gas?

Damage to the engine, muffler, or exhaust pipe can cause a car to make a motorcycle-like noise. A defective transmission or belt, an engine misfire, or worn-out valves are all possibilities. Some cars, however, have a motorcycle sound even when they are brand new.

My Car Sounds Like A Motorcycle When I Accelerate

Destruction of the engine, exhaust, belt, or drivetrain is the four most common causes of motorbike noise in a car.

Conclusion

Do not wait for your automobile’s condition to deteriorate over time; instead, study the above-mentioned instructions on Why Does My Car Sound Like A Motorcycle? You may be saving money at the present, but you will wind up spending a lot of money in the long run.

If you need to replace any parts, you should always seek the advice of various experts to ensure that the problem is resolved. Some issues can be resolved at a low cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

You almost certainly have a major exhaust leak around or before the muffler. The most typical cause of muffler failure is heat and moisture combining over time to develop small holes in the muffler or exhaust pipe, leading the muffler to stop working.

If you hear rattling or whining when accelerating, it could be a sign that your camshaft (timing) belt is misaligned or slipping. The timing belt synchronizes the crankshaft’s rotation, allowing the engine’s valves to open and close at the correct times.

An engine that suddenly becomes louder than usual is frequently yelling for assistance. The majority of the time, the engine rumbles because of an underlying issue. Simple issues like dirty spark plugs might lead to more major issues like a malfunctioning muffler or catalytic converter.
